GRAND HYATT HOTEL | Dhaka, Bangladesh
Drawing references from the vernacular architecture of Bangladesh, its unique landscape, heritage of crafts, and the beauty of its contrasts, Grand Hyatt Dhaka brings the tranquility of nature into the city bustle. From urban to natural, densely packed to wide open, the contrasts in Dhaka become the inspiration for layered interior spaces whose overlaps create dramatic reveals of light, shadow, and space beyond. Courtyards blur the lines between interior and exterior spaces. The layering of screens and textures creates transparency, translucency, and reinterprets motifs and methods of the vernacular architecture in a contemporary fashion. Interior spaces are conceived to maximize variety, drama, and a sense of surprise, as they manipulate traditional materials with modern technology to create novel yet reverential environments belonging to Dhaka’s newest luxury multi-use tower.
